Born in France in 1947, Yves Cass studied at the Lycee Malherbe in Deauville and took his Baccalaureate in Philosophy in 1967. He then went to the Superior School of Journalism in Paris and embarked on a journalistic career until 1975. Yves describes himself as a self taught painter who has enjoyed art and painting since an early age.
He can boast numerous successful exhibitions both as an amateur and a professional in some of the most prestigious cities throughout France, including the Salon de Paris, Cannes, Monaco and Saint Raphael. His work has also been displayed in the Galerie d’Art Contemporain in Venice and the Galerie Vendome in Washington, to name but a few, making him a truly international talent.
Working in oil on canvas, Yves takes us on a journey of discovery with themes inspired by the great legends of mythology into which he intrinsically combines elements of symbolism, music, poetry and literature. His paintings, which have an almost hypnotic dimension, are overwhelmingly positive and the unique blend of his rich palette and naïve but inspirational subjects offer a joyful message of hope giving his creations an indefinable charm.
"The pleasure of creation is capricious, mysterious and all consuming which at times transports me. Above all it is music which lifts me into this marvellous world of imagination. At times it seems miraculous when my hand fails to move fast enough to transmit the fugitive vision onto the canvas."
