After completing a degree in fine art at Cardiff Art College, and an apprenticeship in paint finishes, Sophie Coryndon undertook a number of prestigious public and private commissions before joining the Lucy B. Campbell gallery in January 2000.
Since collaborating with Lucy Campbell her work has been collected by designers, art lovers and flower lovers all over the world. Prices for original paintings start at £5000.
In 2002, Sophie began working with Sally Gimson at Artizan Editions to produce a unique set of hand-made screenprints taken from a selection of original work.
Screenprinting has long been recognised as an ideal vehicle for the painter. Sophie's bold approach to painting botanical subjects using layers of softened glazes to build colour and depth lends itself to the printing process, where the use of transparent colours, overprinting and varnishes can create dramatic effects.
Throughout the printing process the artist works closely with the printers, even hand-painting the final separations to produce the finished image. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
