This talented and popular artist has made a marked inroad into the world of art. His paintings sell throughout the country and his fine range of signed prints are soon sold out. None of this however, has changed the man who distances himself from the commercial side of life to give his all to the joy of painting. Sensitive to the moods of nature and climatic changes, he delights in waiting, sometimes for hours, for the right light that he needs to capture for his paintings. In addition to his home territory in Derbyshire and the Yorkshire borders, he travels widely and paints scenes from Scotland and Cornwall. Born in Birmingham, Rex now lives in Derbyshire with his family. His first job after leaving the Derby College of Art was as a design artist with Bemrose of Derby. However his painting was attracting so much interest that he left after a short spell to become a full-time painter. He is recorded as having once told a friend, ‘I’ve only ever had a proper job for three years!’.
