The torn edges hint that each image is a fragment of a larger painting, giving an element of preciousness to each piece. The richness of her original mixed media work is achieved through the layering of paint and extra depth is given by the final layer of varnish. Delighted to be commissioned by ‘Queen’s Bone China’ to produce six mug designs in 1994, and again in 1995, Helen Rhodes also won the Imperial Cancer Research Christmas Card competition.
